Unlike “whole leaf” aloe vera juice, our aloe vera gel comes from filets from the leaves of the plant. The filets are rinsed to minimize any aloin content that may have leaked from the outer leaf in the filet process. The filets are then strained to prevent the gel from being diluted with water. Only after this are the aloe filets grinded to a consistency suitable for drinking. The outer leaves and juice from the outer leaf have NOT been used in the production of our gel.
Stockton Aloe 1 freezes the precious gel to preserve the nutrient qualities. Preservatives, including ascorbic acid, can damage the precious mucopolysaccharides. We do NOT add preservatives to the precious gel.
Aloe grows rather easily in the proper climate. With it’s thick skin, the plant does not require pesticides like many other plant foods. It is rather common for aloe vera plants to be grown organically, though few aloe companies, including Stockton Aloe 1, have become certified organic as this would add to the production costs of the product.

We do not make any health claims regarding the use of aloe vera for horses, in house pets, or humans. Nor do we have the medical credentials to advise you regarding serving sizes of aloe for horses and the like. We can tell you how much we drink every day (I start my day with 8 to 12 ounces of 100% pure aloe vera gel). When consuming aloe vera gel for health or performance purposes in people or pets, we recommend you consult with your healthcare professional or veterinarian. We know very little about dogs and horses and the horse food and dog meal they eat. However, we have customers with prize show dogs, race horses, and even just 4 legged pets that buy our products from us for themselves and their animals. We have been told that canines and equines enjoy lapping aloe vera gel.
We are merely the largest providers of 100% pure aloe vera gel in the United States. Our Aloe #1 aloe vera gel has been available as a 100% pure aloe vera gel beverage for nearly 40 years for human consumption. Yet a simple search for aloe and horses returns many results including http://www.aloeveraforhorses.com/. If nutrition for canine or equine is something you know a lot about, we welcome your feedback. We would love to learn more about the equestrian diet.
Because our gel is inner leaf only, you will not have to worry about laxative effects from aloin. Aloin comes from the outer leaf and can cause diarrhea and cramping. If you are preparing your own gel from the leaves of the plant, we recommend you avoid using the outer leaf and any of the yellow sap that comes out of the leaf when you cut it.
